Eternal Rising

55" x 35" ink on rice paper

This is a world made of stones, where every single stone has got its own life. Their variety
is reflected in all sorts of different movements like dwelling, falling,or just coming to an abrupt
stand-still. But though the whole undergoes constant permutation through the movements
of the individual parts, it will never fall apart but remain a unit. Thus, a philosophic concept
of contradiction--the whole vs. the individual--is hidden in there. The pure lines of the picture
express both concrete and abstract motions. ETERNAL RISING gained the Award of
Fine Works at the "Maple Leaf Award" International Oriental Wash-and-Ink Arts Exhibition
held in Toronto, CANADA 1992.
