Creating a Fall Season landscape Painting in Watercolours
The walking path covered with golden leaves floating in a breeze and sunlight is one of the most poetic scenes in the fall. Trees in their various shape, colour and pattern of growth compose a true effect of colour, texture and motion in landscape painting.
In a perspective way, trees are forming from large to small representing foreground to background. You can create the foliage pattern in values, not individual leaf. It is not possible to point each leaf accurately, especially when a passing breeze moves around. The easier way to capture the tree is to find a group value that describe the distinctive tone of the foliage. Contrast plays another important role in this project.
Intensive watercolour techniques in foliage- layers of object colour/number of colours, gaps and spaces, direct application of brush strokes.
Through a detail study of the subject, I would like to bring you to a close up demo process which will help you manage this landscape painting from big image to fine details. You may express yourself with confidence after this study.
